About The Role
NWT By AXYS is looking for Senior Client Accountants who can independently manage a complex portfolio of client accounting mandates, preparing full set financial statements (standalone and consolidation where required) in accordance with GAAP/IFRS, management accounts, and tax returns in accordance with ITA. This role requires strong accounting knowledge, the ability to liaise with auditors, and the confidence to interact directly with clients on accounting and tax matters.
Senior Client Accountants also review the work of Client Accountants and Accounts Officers, contributes to FSC survey preparation, and develops his ACCA qualifications while building toward Team Leader level.
Key Responsibilities
Client Accounting Execution
- Maintain client accounting ledgers and prepare management accounts within targeted dates.
- Prepare full set financial statements (standalone and consolidation) in accordance with GAAP/IFRS, Companies Act, and Financial Reporting Act.
- Prepare accounts with more complex structures as required.
- Perform reconciliation of finance-related general ledger accounts.
- Prepare tax computations including deferred tax calculations.
Tax & Regulatory Returns
- Prepare and submit income tax, VAT, and TDS returns within prescribed deadlines.
- Submit regulatory returns to MRA — VAT monthly/quarterly, corporation tax yearly and APS.
- Filing of statutory payroll related returns (Paye, CSG etc) to the MRA.
- Attend MRA queries and assessments
- Prepare goods and services returns where required.
Audit Liaison
- Liaise with auditors — attend audit queries, monitor audit progress.
- Ensure audit clearance is obtained within targeted dates.
- Review of audited financial statements prior to submission to clients within reasonable timeframes.
Client Relationship
- Enhance interaction with clients — liaise directly by email, participate in conference calls, attend board meetings.
- Attend to client queries with professionalism and within agreed deadlines.
Team Contribution
- Review and guide work produced by Client Accountants and Accounts Officers.
- Contribute to team knowledge-sharing and ACCA development discussions.
Qualifications
- ACCA partly qualified (intermediate stages – level 1 completed).
- Degree in Finance or Accounting.
- Minimum 5 years in client accounting with demonstrated autonomy.
- Strong IFRS and GAAP knowledge; full set financial statement preparation.
- Experience with income tax, VAT, TDS compliance and payroll related returns.
- Bilingual — English and French.
