About The Role
NWT By AXYS is looking for Semi-Senior Client Accountants to manage a defined portfolio of client accounting mandates with increasing independence, preparing management accounts, financial statements in accordance with GAAP/IFRS, and tax returns in accordance with ITA. This role sits between Client Accountant and Senior Client Accountant — the incumbent operates with greater autonomy than an entry-level accountant but continues to develop toward full ownership of complex mandates.
The Semi-Senior Client Accountants builds the technical depth and client confidence to progress to Senior Client Accountant level — developing ACCA qualifications, refining IFRS knowledge, and demonstrating consistent delivery across their assigned portfolio without day-to-day supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Client Accounting
- Maintain client accounting ledgers and prepare management accounts within targeted dates independently and accurately.
- Prepare full set financial statements in accordance with GAAP/IFRS, the Companies Act, and the Financial Reporting Act.
- Perform reconciliation of finance-related general ledger accounts payables, receivables, and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare and review tax computations including basic deferred tax calculations.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts for assigned client portfolios.
- Ensure financial records in accounting systems are updated in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assist in the preparation of FSC surveys quarterly and annual.
- Preparation of payroll for client entities.
Tax & Regulatory Returns
- Prepare income tax, VAT, and TDS returns for assigned clients within prescribed MRA deadlines.
- Submit regulatory returns to MRA VAT monthly/quartery, corporation tax yearly and APS with zero late submissions.
- Filing of statutory payroll related returns (Paye, CSG etc) to the MRA.
- Prepare goods and services returns where required.
- Flag any tax issues or unusual transactions to the supervising Senior Client Accountant or Team Leader.
Audit Liaison
- Liaise with auditors on assigned client files attend audit queries and monitor progress.
- Ensure audit clearance is obtained within targeted dates.
- Prepare audit files and supporting documentation to the required standard before audit commencement.
- Review of audited financial statements prior to submission to clients within reasonable timeframes.
Client Relationship
- Liaise directly with clients by email and on conference calls for assigned portfolio.
- Respond to client queries in a timely and professional manner escalating complex matters to senior staff.
- Build positive, professional client relationships under the guidance of the Senior Client Accountant.
- Attend client meetings where appropriate.
Team Contribution & Development
- Provide guidance and review support to Client Accountants and Accounts Officers on specific tasks.
- Progress ACCA qualifications minimum two papers every six months.
- Participate in team knowledge-sharing sessions and contribute to improving accounting processes.
- Flag workload or timeline concerns proactively to the supervising Team Leader or Senior Client Accountant.
Qualifications
- Degree in Finance or Accounting.
- ACCA in progress – level 1 passed; commitment to continue at minimum two papers every six months.
- Minimum 2–3 years in client accounting, preferably in financial services, banking, or management company environments.
- Working knowledge of IFRS norms and MRA tax compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, viewpoint, Sage, or equivalent).
- Bilingual — English and French.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
- Full set financial statements, GAAP/IFRS preparation for assigned client portfolio
- Management accounts – monthly and quarterly, delivered within targeted dates
- Tax returns – VAT, income tax, TDS and payroll related returns submitted within MRA deadlines
- General ledger reconciliation – payables, receivables, bank reconciliations, FAR and others
- Deferred tax – basic computation and treatment
- FSC surveys – quarterly and annual preparation

- Accounting systems – proficiency in Xero, QuickBooks, viewpoint, Sage, or equivalent
- ACCA – active progression at minimum two papers per six months
